Dallas Burke begins professional baseball career

Updated:

News Release Missouri Southern State University:

Missouri Southern outfielder Dallas Burke has begun his professional career as the former Lion is playing in the Pecos League as part of the Roswell Invaders.

Burke, a two-time All-MIAA selection, helped lead the Lions this year to a 34-22 record and the MIAA Tournament title. He led the team in hitting with a .347 batting average and added nine doubles, four home runs, a triple and 27 RBIs. He was third on the team with 67 hits and was tied for the team lead in fielding percentage with a .993 mark, including nine outfield assists.

The Invaders play in the Pecos League, an independent professional baseball league that has teams in New Mexico, West Texas and Southern Colorado. Currently Burke is hitting .380 for the Invaders and hit his first professional home run last Friday. The team is 32-12 on the season.

"I would like to give a big thanks to everyone at Missouri Southern," Burke said. "I think a big reason that I have been able to adapt to professional ball is because the way I was treated by my Missouri Southern family and the way the coaching staff and coach Darnell ran the program."
