Pies benefit Moore, OK - KOAM TV 7

Pies benefit Moore, OK

Updated:

The Byers Avenue United Methodist Church holds its 20th annual pie fundraiser and some of the proceeds will benefit Moore, Oklahoma tornado survivors.

Coconut cream, chocolate cream, pumpkin and lemon meringue are just a few pie flavors available. Proceeds go towards buying items for the church that are not in the budget, like stage curtains and equipment for the kitchen.

This year one fourth of the sales profits will go for tornado relief efforts.

"So we've used proceeds from our pie sale to help pay for the extra expenses the church has incurred, because of tornado relief the church has had a lot higher utility bills keeping the church cool all week long while we have workers here so we just wanted to pay it forward to Moore because we know what they're going through" says church treasurer Jane Obert.

The church raised about $5,000 dollars from the four day sale.
