Tree stump converted to tornado memorial - KOAM TV 7

Tree stump converted to tornado memorial

Updated:

A Joplin family is remembering the tragedy of the 2011 tornado with a one of a kind memorial that is finally complete.

The 5 and a half foot tree stump is over 300 years old and has been sitting along West 24th Street.  It has been transformed into a carving of a cross with wings and a banner to honor the Joplin tornado victims.

The idea came from two brothers' tattoo drawing that they wanted to make come to life.

Carving for Christ began the project Saturday afternoon and completed the project Sunday at around 6 p.m.
