Hundreds of swimmers and their families boost Joplin area business during a swim meet weekend.

Updated:

Hundreds of families of swimmers bring business dollars to the Joplin area. Joplin's Schifferdecker aquatic center shut down to host the annual invitational swim meet.

More than 6- hundred swimmers ages 4 thru 18 are competing against other athletes from throughout the four-states.

Joplin's swim team, the Stingrays hosted the weekend  invitational and organizers say money raised will help the club in the future.

But organizers say the swim meet will put money into pockets of area business as well.

Schifferdecker pool re-opened in early June after being renovated to include slides and a lazy river  with a price tag of $5.3 million dollars.
