Drowning deaths have already surpassed last year's totals in both Kansas and Missouri

Drowning deaths are up this year in both Kansas and Missouri.

According to state officials, before this weekend 24 drowning's had been reported so far this year in Missouri.  That's four more than all of 2012.

In Kansas, 12 drowning's have been reported so far.  That's already twice as many for all of 2012.

State officials say it's likely because more people are out enjoying the waterways this year with the pleasant summer weather.
