Jasper County could add four way stops to various intersections

Four Jasper County intersections might soon become a little safer.  Jasper County commissioners are seeking input from the public before making their final decision on each of these intersections.

The potential changes are adding four way stops to the intersections along County Road 110 at Goldenrod Road and Cedar Road, and at County Road 60 and Ivy Road, along with the moving a stop sign at County Road 189 and oak Road.

Commissioners say all of these are accident-prone areas.

"It's just something that was felt by the committee that it would be good to take a look at these, we do have traffic counts of the speed in that area, we've taken into account the number of accidents in each of these areas," says Jasper County Commissioner Jim Honey.

The final public hearing is at the Jasper County courthouse this Wednesday at 9 a.m.  Those who cannot attend the meeting can voice their opinions by calling the county commission's office at 417-358-0421.
