A reunion with 140 years of tradition continues to bring back military veterans and families. It's called "The Soldiers and Sailors Reunion" in Erie, Kansas.
A parade was held to honor all military personnel across the country. Organizers say it's the longest running reunion in America that is sponsored by military veterans. Civil War veterans started the event by getting together on the banks of the Neosho River and preparing beans.
"Through the years, they moved it into Erie and the veterans that had the pots started donating them to us, and so the celebration started and stayed here and has been going ever since," says event coordinator Jack McGowen.
Every year, the reunion is held the second weekend of July.
