Baby number 1,000 was born at Mercy McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage on July 9. The hospital reached its 500th birth in 2010, so the additional 500 babies were born in just two and a half years.
On Friday the Carthage woman who gave birth to the 1,000th baby, Kelley Harrall, and her newborn returned for a baby shower with gifts donated by employees throughout the hospital.
"Everybody that helped us out and bought us gifts and threw this for us, I want to thank everybody," says Harrall.
"Not just coming in and being a patient and, you know, having another baby - we try to make every birth and every baby feel special," says Mercy Carthage Director of OB Sandi Godfrey.
The largest baby out of the 1,000 weighed 10 pounds 11 ounces and the smallest was just 3 pounds 5 ounces.
