Robert Corn finalizes men's basketball coaching staff with hiring of Nick Bradford

Updated:

Press Release Missouri Southern State University:

Missouri Southern men's basketball coach Robert Corn has announced the addition of Nick Bradford to his coaching staff to join current associate head coach Jeff Boschee and him on the bench.

"We're excited to add Nick to our staff," Corn said. "Obviously he and Jeff (Boschee) know each other really well, having played together at Kansas and he has a lot of experience. He's played overseas and brings that to the team, and he's been coaching at the junior college level, as well, and we're just glad to have him here to work with our big guys."

Bradford comes to Southern after two seasons as an assistant coach at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan. He helped lead Labette to back-to- back winning seasons and back-to-back 10-win conference seasons. In 2012-13, he helped the Cards to a third place Jayhawk Eastern division finish, the highest finish for any Labette men's basketball program in over two decades. Bradford helped recruit and develop three All-Jayhawk Conference players, two All-Region VI performers, and has helped send seven players to four-year institutions in just two seasons.

During his time at Labette, Bradford was also the head assistant coach for the Kansas City Run GMC AAU basketball organization. With Run GMC, he helped coach and develop numerous division I basketball players including Trevor Releford (Alabama), Travis Jorgenson (Georgia Tech) and Conner Frankamp (Kansas).

Bradford came to Labette after completing an eight-year professional basketball career both in Europe and in the states. After graduating from Kansas, he played for the 2002 ABA champion Kansas City Knights before going overseas for the rest of his career. He had playing stops in France, Iceland, Finland, England and Romania. Some of his honors in Europe include the 2005 MVP of the finals in Iceland, the 2008 All-Import Team in France and 2009 Import Player of the Year in Iceland.

A 2000 graduate of the University of Kansas, Bradford was a college teammate of Boschee's, playing for coach Roy Williams. A four-year letterwinner at Kansas, Bradford was a team captain in 2000 and was given the Phog Allen MVP award that year, as well. He helped the team to three-straight Big 12 titles from 97-99 and was an All-Big 12 selection his senior season.

"I'm excited to work with a former teammate of mine," Boschee said. "Nick has been a great friend of mine ever since college and I've watched him at practices at Labette and in game situations, as well. He does a great job with the big guys and does an excellent job with in-game coaching."

A native of Fayetteville, Ark., Bradford was was a Parade All-American at Fayetteville High School. He earned his bachelor degree of general studies in African & African-American studies from the University of Kansas and has a son, Isiah.
