Press Release Pittsburg State University:
The Pittsburg State University football team will report to campus for the start of preseason camp Sunday (Aug. 11).
Newcomers will report mid-day with the veterans returning to campus Sunday evening. The Gorillas' first practice will take place Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m. at Carnie Smith Stadium.
Pitt State head coach Tim Beck will welcome approximately 120 players into the fall camp. The Gorillas return 15 starters (8 offense, 7 defense) from last year's squad.
Due to NCAA regulations, Pitt State will undergo a five-day acclimatization period from Monday, Aug. 12, through Friday, Aug. 16. The Gorillas will practice once daily – in helmets only the first two days, in helmets and shoulder pads on days three and four, and finally in full pads on the fifth day of the acclimatization period.
After the five-day period, a team cannot have consecutive days of multiple on-field practice sessions. Therefore, Pitt State will conduct its first two-a-day practice session Saturday, Aug. 17. Saturday's evening practice session will begin at 8 p.m.
