NEWS RELEASE FROM THE JOPLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT

Joplin Police Department makes Drug Arrests

On August 9, 2013 an officerwith the Joplin Police Department observed two vehicles driving together andobserved both of them make traffic violations. The officer lost sight of the vehicles and was not able to stop thevehicles.  Both vehicles were laternoticed in the area where officers were on another call.  Officers were able to stop both vehicles at approximately0234 hours.  K9 Officer Jimenez was ableto stop one of the vehicles while Officer Brown stopped the other vehicle.  Officer Jimenez utilized his K9 (Gunner)during the stop and located a meth lab as well as some meth in a liquid forminside of the vehicle.  The driver of thevehicle, Joe Shinn, was arrested for manufacturing of a controlledsubstance. 

In the other vehicle Officer Brown along with Officer Blandand K9 Pax, located 3.6 grams of meth and a syringe.  Officer Brown arrested Bobby Bowles forpossession of a controlled substance. Another bag of meth was located on Mr. Bowles after he was transportedto the jail.  

It was also determined that the subjects had justmanufactured some methamphetamine at 705 W. 17th.  Officers then responded to that location andobtained consent to search the residence. At the residence they located additional components of a meth lab andjars of finished meth liquid.  Bothsubjects were arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance. 

On August 11, 2013 at 0545 hours, Sgt. Duncan stopped avehicle at 20th and Main for having illegal tinting on the windowsof the vehicle.  The driver fled on footand was stopped in the area as other officers arrived on scene.  Officer Jimenez arrived on scene with his K9partner.  The K9 alerted on the vehicleand a search was conducted.  There were15 Hydrocodone pills located in the vehicle. Tia Chrisman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  A plastic baggie containing meth was alsolocated in her pocket.  The driver of thevehicle, Ronall Donham was arrested on 3 Joplin warrants, 6 Newton Countywarrants, and 2 Jasper County warrants. A passenger of the vehicle, Jerry Logan, gave officers falseidentification and was arrested for that as well as for 3 Joplin warrants.
