Bus Carry Pitt State Students Catches Fire in Arma

Updated:

A bus catches fire with students from Pittsburg State aboard on Saturday. 51 passengers were inside as the bus pulled over just moments before catching fire. Footage was taken by the university videographer Jacob Anselmi of the incident.

The bus was carrying sorority members to Kansas City for a Fraternal Leadership Summit. It happened around 7 Saturday morning north of Arma, the bus company owner Steve Roberts says the bus overheated. He pulled to the side of the road.

Moments after students evacuated the bus flames began shooting from behind the drivers side back tire. Crawford County deputies say Roberts attempted to put it out with an extinguisher but was unsuccessful.

No injuries were reported, but several students are still missing their luggage. One student demanded everyone exit the bus shortly before the fire erupted.
