MSSU students celebrate Lion Pride with Convocation

Before Missouri Southern students head back to the classrooms, they were greeted by faculty and staff as a part of Lion Pride weekend. The three day event kicks off the Lion's academic year with several events to welcome to students back on campus.

Sunday's events included the Convocation and Medallion Ceremony, followed by a reception for the 2013 class and their families. Officials with the University say this year they hope to reach out to more students to make them feel welcome.

"Our goal is to in Student Affairs - we provide the support service to the students as long as they're here, so everything from Financial Aid to tutoring. We're just really on a mission to reach out to the students and make them feel apart of the Missouri Southern family," said Darren Fullerton," of MSSU Student Affairs.

The students head back to the classrooms tomorrow, but events are planned all week for families.
