Carthage traffic stop results in arrest of man wanted for involuntary manslaughter

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE CARTHAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT

On August 21, 2013, Carthage Police were informed by a St. Joseph Police Department Detective that they currently had a warrant on Shawn Winkfield Maynard, age 24, St. Joseph resident. The warrant was for Involuntary Manslaughter. The bond was set at $70,000 cash/surety + $5,000 cash. St. Joseph PD advised they believed the suspect to be in Carthage. Jasper County Drug Task Force assisted in watching the area of a possible location of Winkfield Maynard and observed him enter a vehicle and leave the residence.

Jasper County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop in the 700 block of South River at about 6:32 P.M., on August 21, 2013. The warrant was confirmed and he was taken into custody by Carthage Police Department and transported to Jasper County Jail without further incident.
