Drug raid in Columbus results in multiple arrests

Updated:

UPDATED 4:28 PM CST:  Officers suited up in SWAT gear and raided a Columbus, Kansas home on Thursday at about 1:50 p.m.

With the street blocked off, around 20 officers swarmed the home near the corner of Mulberry and Minnesota.  Five-to-ten minutes later, three suspects were brought out in handcuffs.  A K-9 unit sniffed the woman and two men while officers continued to keep their guns on the suspects.

Animal control took two dogs from the residence.

Columbus Police Chief Charles Sharp says there were no shots fired and nobody was injured during the raid.  He says they had been investigating the location for about two years and on Wednesday they got enough evidence to execute the search warrant.

Chief Sharp says drugs were found at the residence but did not reveal what they were or the quantity.

A total of four people have been apprehended due to the investigation.  All four are in custody at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.
