Update 10/16:  According to court documents, Prosecutors have dismissed a statutory rape charge against Bourne. He still remains charged w/ 1st Degree Murder and Child Kidnapping. 

Updated June 20, 2014:  Bobby Bourne Jr's lawyers requested a change of venue because of publicity about the case.  Bourne had plead not guilty to first-degree murder, statutory rape and child kidnapping in the August 2013 death of Adriaunna Horton.

On Thursday a judge ordered a jury to be selected in Buchanan County and brought to Barton County for the trial, which is scheduled to begin September 21, 2015.

The Barton County prosecutor says he will seek the death penalty.

Updated February 26, 2014:  The attorney for a southwest Missouri man accused in the strangulation death of 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton has requested a change of venue.  The court document was filed on Wednesday.

Bobby Bourne Jr. has plead not guilty to charges of kidnapping, statutory rape, and first degree murder. 

Court documents show Bourne admitted to abducting Horton in August 2013, but not killing the girl.

A judge has yet to rule on the request to change the location of the trial.

Updated February 19, 2014 at 5:25 PM:  A southwest Missouri man accused in the death of a 12-year-old Golden City girl pleads not guilty. Bobby Bourne Jr. appeared in a Lamar, Missouri court on Wednesday, waiving his formal arraignment and entering a plea of not guilty.

Bourne is charged with two Class A Felony charges of child kidnapping and murder in the first degree.  He's also facing a felony statutory rape charge in the case.

Court documents show Bourne admitting to abducting Adriaunna Horton in August 2013, but not killing the girl.

A coroner's report indicates she died of strangulation.

Updated January 14, 2014 at 2:50 PM:  A charge of forcible rape has been dropped against the man accused in the death of 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton.

Charges were amended on Tuesday against Bobby Bourne, Jr. at the Barton County courthouse.

Bourne is now charged with class A felony of child kidnapping, felony of statutory rape in the first degree, and class A felony of murder in the first degree.

This past August, just a week after Horton was reported missing, Bourne was sentenced to 15 years in prison for violating his probation for assaults that occurred in October of 2012.

Updated August 30, 2013 at 5:00 PM:  Bobby Bourne has been sentenced for violating his probation for assaults that occurred in October of 2012.

A judged revoked his current probation because Bourne had not complete the his obligations of his probation by completing an anger program.

He was sentenced to 15 years for his crimes.

Bourne is charged with the kidnapping, rape and murder of 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton.

Updated August 26, 2013 at 5:32 PM by Jordan Aubey:  The man charged with raping and killing 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton appeared in court, one week after Adriaunna disappeared.  Adriaunna's body was found on Wednesday.  Bobby Bourne, Junior was taken into custody shortly after Adriaunna was reported missing.

This was Bourne's first appearance in court to make sure he has legal representation.  He is being represented by a public defender.  Bourne is being charged with child kidnapping, forcible rape, statutory rape, and first degree murder.  

The victim's grandmother did not want to be interviewed on camera today, but told us in the courtroom that she hopes Bourne's trial is in Barton County, since that was where Adriaunna was from.  

Bourne's lack of emotion has been upsetting for the family.  Debbie Cooper, Adriaunna's great aunt, says, "We're just all very angry.  It wasn't just that episode, its been the whole thing that has made us all very, very, angry.  There's a lot of anger.  It makes no sense.  None of it."

Security was tight at the courthouse, with state troopers, county deputies, and a K-9 present.  Bourne's next court date is set for September 9th.

Bourne did not enter a plea.

Updated August 26, 2013 at 3:05 PM CST:  Bobby D. Bourne Jr. appeared in the Barton County court today for his arraignment with public defenders.

The charges against Bourne were read against him:  child kidnapping, forcible and statutory rape, and first degree murder.

Bourne did not enter a plea.

Bourne's next court appearance is scheduled for September 9.

Bourne is accused in the death of 12 year old Adriaunna Horton.

No cameras or mobile devices were permitted in the courtroom today.

Posted August 25, 2013 at 6:03 PM CST:  A Probable Cause Affidavit reveals how a 12 year old Golden City girl was killed. The Barton County Prosecuting Attorney is releasing the affidavit that resulted in charges of Murder in the First Degree against Bobby Bourne Junior.

Bourne is also facing charges of rape and kidnapping. The statement prepared by Deputy Sheriff Vernon Ring says Bourne originally denied picking up Adriaunna Horton at Hazel Park last Monday. Her disappearance prompted a massive search.

But during Post Miranda interviews Bourne admitted to picking up the girl near the park and driving her to an abandoned residence in Golden City. Bourne claimed Horton ran away from him, fell down and died as a result of falling.

The affidavit says Bourne led investigators to the wooded area where Horton's body was eventually found. It says an autopsy revealed the girl was sexually assaulted and strangled.
