MSSU students get first-hand experience in making grape juice

Updated:

Missouri Southern students spent part of Tuesday making their own grape juice.  A grape stomping was held to celebrate the Italy themed semester.

Students picked their own grapes, put them in the press, and helped make their own juice.  And of course they got a bottle to take home.

"A lot of people have never seen a fresh grape off of a vine," says winemaker Andrew Pennington.  "It is interesting to see people in Missouri understand that there is a rich culture in grape and wine making in Missouri, actually see a product that they can go and use their degrees in business and biology to actually pursue something."

There were also grape stomping demonstrations.

Tuesday's event was just one of many that will take place as part of the Italy semester.
