Outdoor learning center unveiled at a Joplin elementary school

Jefferson Elementary in Joplin unveiled a new outdoor learning center on Thursday.
What used to be just a pathway to the playground now includes a garden area, shaded space for tables and a wall mural.
Students teamed up with ArtFeeds to create an idea for the mural and 60 volunteers from Rebuild Joplin and Experience Mission helped paint it.
"The teachers are extremely excited because this is something that they have envisioned long before I even was a principal here, so to be able to see them see this project grow from where it was from the beginning of this year to where it is now, they are very excited," says Jefferson Elementary Principal Jarrett Cook.
Funds for the project came from several donors and a $5,000 grant from Lowe's Home Improvements.
