Cake Decorating Contest back at Little Balkins Days - KOAM TV 7

Cake Decorating Contest back at Little Balkins Days

Cake decorating may not always seem like a skill...but for 30 bakers in pittsburg, it was all apart of their fun.

Cake decorators from all over town brought their creations for the first time in 15 years to be judged at little balkin days.

The cakes were designed with sports logos, colors, and even...food.

The public could vote on the cakes by placing coins into their favorites --with all proceeds going to the united way.
And organizers couldn't be more thrilled to have this event back this year.

"I think it's great. Being a downtown business, we are always excited to be apart of any of the great events in Pittsburg" says organizer, and business owner, Lori Horton.

"It's a great way to get everybody interested in the cakes again, and kind get that part of it, everyone watches the shows on TV so it's kind of something neat and to get the family and the kids involved of course that's always a bonus every time we can do that." she says.

The cakes were auctioned off to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to the United Way.
