Ribbon cutting held at new Carl Junction skate park - KOAM TV 7

Ribbon cutting held at new Carl Junction skate park

Updated:

A ribbon cutting was held Thursday at the new Carl Junction, Missouri skate park located on West Water near the community center.

It opened unofficially a couple of weeks ago and kids have already been rolling through there.

City officials say it's a good place for area youth to stay active.

"They provide such an athletic ability to the kids that they can get out and do this type of thing," says Carl Junction City Administrator Steve Lawver.  "They get out and it keeps them off of the streets and doing things that they shouldn't do and gives them a good activity that is wholesome."

This is just phase one of the skate park project.

Phase two will begin next year.
