Politicians tour state like Governor debating HB 253 and a possible override vote

The tax cut bill  vetoed by Governor Jay Nixon brought  lawmakers stumping for support of an override to Joplin.
Representatives Bill Reiboldt and Bill White spoke to a group of retired teachers on the issue today, arguing the tax cut measure does not guarantee cuts in education funding.
But Governor  Nixon who was  in town Wednesday, claims the tax cuts would definitely hurt school funding which gets fifty percent of general revenue.
The governor calls it financially risky while southwest missouri lawmakers and business groups say the bill will  stimulate the economy like  tax cuts have in Oklahoma.

The legislature reconvenes next  Wednesday, September 11th in special session .
