Women's cross country starts season at Arkansas

The MissouriSouthern women's cross country team opened up the 2013 season with adouble-dual at the University of Arkansas, facing off with the Razorbacks andthe University of Missouri. 

In a raredouble-dual, the Lions faced off with both Arkansas and Missouri in separatecompetitions. Facing off with the No. 9 ranked Division I team, the Lions camein second to Arkansas as the Lady Backs had a perfect score against bothSouthern and Mizzou. 

KaitlynBelisle was the top runner for the Lions, traversing the 4k course in atime of 14:29. DoraEastin finished in a time of 14:59, while KindraEmberton had a time of  15:16. SierraGray and AddieMengwasser finished in 15:20, while DanaRoberson had a time of 15:44. LizzyKirby (15:54), KellyJo Roberts (16:28) and KaylaBartlesmeyer (16:40) all finished in front of the last Arkansasrunner. 

The Lions, asa team had 50 points against Arkansas and 44 points against Missouri. 

Southern willbe back in action in two weeks when the Lions will play host to the SouthernStampede on September 21.

     Missouri Southern was the unanimous pick to win the MIAA Men's Cross Country Championship, while in the women's poll four different teams earned first place votes. Southwest Baptist earned the top nod in the women's poll by four points as they received five of the 11 total first place votes. More >>
