Fundraiser for Adriaunna Horton held in Carthage

Updated:

Dozens gathered in Carthage this afternoon for a day long fundraiser for Adriaunna Horton.

The Steel Rooster hosted a benefit for the 12 year old Barton county girl who was killed on August 19th. Family and friends, along with officials who assisted in the search, all gathered to remember the girl.

There was a live and silent auction, along with dozens of band all raising money for the expenses of the Horton family.

Organizers say it's not about how much money was raised, but how much a community comes together in a time of need.

Organizer Chris Goodwin says "when everyone leaves here I hope they feel that they did good. I mean the fact that you came out on a Sunday when you could be at home and came out and donated...its a good cause. it's a great deal. I feel good about it and I'm sure other people do too."

The goal of today's fundraiser is to raise funds to help the Horton family with expenses, along with a concrete stone for an upcoming memorial garden to be placed in Golden City.
