Senator Blunt’s Statement On Anniversary Of 9/11 Terrorist Attacks

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As our nation marks the 12th anniversary of the devastating terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and the one-year anniversary of the attack on the American consulate in Benghazi, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement today in remembrance of those tragic events:

“Twelve years ago today, we witnessed the most horrific terrorist attack ever to take place on American soil. We'll never forget those who lost their lives on 9/11, and we're forever grateful to our men and women in uniform and our intelligence professionals who work tirelessly each and every day to keep us safe from another attack.

“Twelve years later, we still live in a dangerous world with enemies who wish us harm. We were reminded of this just one year ago, when four Americans were killed during a deadly terrorist attack in Benghazi. As a member of both the Senate defense authorizing and appropriations committees, I will continue working to ensure our nation's military and intelligence community have the necessary resources to protect Americans.

“On this day and every day, let us never forget the innocent victims and first responders – as well as their families and friends – who sacrificed so much on 9/11.”

Blunt currently serves on both the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services as well as the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense.
