Veterans honored at a Patriot's Day ceremony in Joplin

Missouri veterans were honored in a special Patriot's Day ceremony on Wednesday afternoon. The event was held at the Missouri National Guard location in Joplin.

The Joplin ROTC did a presentation of colors and area men and women were honored for their service with a medal and a certificate.

World War II veteran Joseph Williams of Webb City hopes Americans don't take their freedom for granted.

"To be under the American flag, it is a privilege, you don't think about the flag, you think about all those who died so we could keep it flying," says Williams.

The state of Missouri, MOAA Four State Chapter, Missouri National Guard, and the Missouri Veterans Association hosted the event.
