NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE MARTIN AND OSA JOHNSON SAFARI MUSEUM

Museum Launches New Website

CHANUTE, KS—The Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum announced that they are launching a new website, available at www.safarimuseum.com. The new website home page presents a slide show of images from the museum and the Johnsons’ collections, as well as visitor information, highlights of what is happening at the museum, a calendar of events, and other helpful links. The organization of this website makes it easier for visitors to find the information they seek more quickly and more easily.

One feature of the new website is the photo gallery, which will allow the museum to put the bulk of Johnson photos online for researchers and others to view. Prints of these photographs can be ordered directly from the gallery. This will be the first public display of some of these images.

“The website is being well received,” said Diane Good, director of development at the museum. “Website statistics show a 230% increase in visitors since the website went live on August 1, 2013. In August alone visitors have come from 667 cities in 53 countries around the world.”

The Martin and Osa Johnson Safari Museum is located at 111 N. Lincoln in Chanute and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Closed major holidays. For information call the museum at 620-431-2730 or visit on the website at www.safarimuseum.com.
