The skies were busy Friday in Southwest Missouri as the 14th annual Powered Parachute Fly In kicked off at Baugh Flight Park in Reeds, Missouri, which is just east of Jasper.
Pilots from across the nation make their way to the flight park for the event. Hot air balloons and gyro-copters offered rides to event-goers, including KOAM photojournalist Jennifer Orson.
"I had a lady yesterday that was celebrating her 80th birthday that I got to take up," says Ernie Baugh, owner. "She lost her husband, and her lady friend brought her out to me a month ago and said 'could you do this during it, this is something she's wanted to do for the last ten years' and that's really worth it."
The Fly-In is sponsored by the Show-Me Chute Flyers Club which is based at the flight park.
During the event club members are also holding a benefit for Camp Quality, a summer camp for young people with cancer.
