New playgrounds for Parr HIl Park dedicated Saturday

Updated:

Another Joplin park is restored and ready for play with some improvements to boot.
Parr Hill Park has a new playground, swing set and picnic shelter thanks to  a forty-five  thousand dollar donation from the Masonic Grand Lodge of Missouri. Members were part of a dedication  ceremony at Parr Hill Park Saturday afternoon. It's now restored after being torn apart by the Joplin  May 22nd, 2011 tornado. The project was completed by volunteers and city staff.

Masonic Grand Master David Ramsey says, "To continue to see the progress you guys are making here in Joplin is heartening. You can rebuild and rise from the ashes and the people of Joplin are dedicated that effort."

Amanda Mauller a resident who attended the dedication says of the new park, "Its awesome. It shows that human spirit is working together. We can still get along and work together to rebuild Joplin.

Parr Hill Park had lead contamination that had to be remediated after the tornado.  It has also been designated a dog park.
