Grant to help residents understand health insurance

Updated:

Freeman Health System was awarded with an "Expanding Coverage" grant on Monday.  The $250,000 grant is funded by the Missouri Foundation for Health.

The funding will help pay for a team of professionals to go out into the community and educate residents on health insurance options.  Freeman will also be working with the Chamber of Commerce to help small businesses enroll in the right insurance for them

Officials with the hospital hope the program makes understanding health insurance easier for all.

"Through the program officials will also help guide individuals through online insurance enrollment," says Amanda Mitchell, the Freeman grant project manager.
