United Way adds new Resource Development staff to team

United Way addsnew Resource Development staff to team

Joplin, MO– The United Way of Southwest Missouri &Southeast Kansas has brought an experienced nonprofit administrator andfundraiser on board to help build UW's projects and programs throughout thearea. 

Local resident Duane Dreiling has joined theUnited Way as its vice-president of resource development — and brings a lengthyhistory of building nonprofits with him.

"With a background in non-profit, my heart'sdesire has always been to help people who genuinely need help, and that is theUnited Way mission," Dreiling said.

Dreiling will join the local United Way, effectiveOctober 1st, where his responsibilities include helping set and meetregional fundraising goals, leading efforts to communicate with donors in thefour-county service area regions and helping expand programs currently offeredby the organization.

"A lot of the solid fundraising elements are inplace, and what I can do is help shore up the current systems, and make surethe great team of volunteers we have working with the United Way are aligned inthe best way they can possibly be to maximize our fundraising efforts," hesaid.

His combination of experience and expertise isone that United Way Executive Director Dr. Bev Crespino-Graham said madeDreiling a natural fit.

"Duane has a proven track record of creatinglong-lasting relationships with donors and community partners in our areaalready, and has a strong desire for success," she said.

"He will be a tremendous asset to our lineup ofprofessionals because he has a broad range of experience that includes all thequalities of a strong resource development professional," Graham said, addingthat the United Way is "very fortunate to have him as part of our team."

Beyond working for another United Way chapterpreviously, Dreiling has most recently led the efforts of the Mt. CarmelHospital Foundation in Pittsburg, KS, a pattern of experiences he said has onetheme in common.

"Meaningful work for me is helping people.Development is the lifeblood of any nonprofit organization because we will needboth human and financial resources to meet our mission," Dreiling said.

Ken Murphy has resigned his position as Chief of Police of the Wyandotte Nation Tribal Police Department (WNTPD) after serving in the position for nine years.
