No. 10 Razorbacks Set To Compete At Aztec Invitational

After taking a week off fromcompetition, the No. 10 Razorbacks Arkansas women's cross country team willtravel to San Diego, Calif., to compete in the 69th Annual Aztec Invitationalon Saturday Sept. 21 at 11:30 a.m.

 

The meet will feature host SanDiego State and USC plus NCAA Division II teams Holy Names and Point Lioma.Also, Biola, which is ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA national poll andImperial Valley, Palomar and San Diego City from the junior college ranks.

 

"We are really excited about themeet," head coach Lance Harter said. "Our training has just been perfect andright on schedule. We are not easing up for any of these early season meets. Welove to go out west whenever we can so I am excited to take our team there andgive California a hard time."

 

The Razorbacks picked up a pair of perfect scores in the seasonopener against Missouri and Missouri Southern. Senior Stephanie Brown won herfirst collegiate cross country race to lead the Razorbacks and was also namedthe Southeastern Conference (SEC) Runner of the Week.

    Newly elected Joplin City Council member Joshua Bard has resigned from council. Bard confirmed to KOAM that his resignation is connected to a drug conviction from 2005.  Mayor Gary Shaw tells us the council will begin accepting applications for a new council member, and that member will be selected by the council. He hopes to address the now vacant seat as early as the next meeting.
