Volleyball Earns First Conference Win at Fort Hays State

The Pittsburg State Volleyball team (4-7, 1-2 MIAA) earned its first conference win of the 2013 campaign on the road at Fort Hays State on Saturday (Sept. 21). The Gorillas won by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 26-24.

Pitt State hit at a .252 clip, wihle holding the Tigers to a .132 attack percentage. The Gorillas tallied 44 kills and only 17 errors in 107 attempts on the match. The team recorded 54 digs and 7.0 team blocks.

Crystal Whitten recorded a double-double for Pitt State with a match-high 18 kills and 12 assists. Freshman Madi Mosier hit double digits for the first time in her collegiate career with with 10 kills. Jordan Rehm again led the Gorillas in digs with 17. Haylee Gregory, Mosier and Whitten were also the team's blocks leaders. Gergory and Mosier each had four block assists, while Whitten contributed three.

Pitt State will return to John Lance Arena for two home conference matches next week. The team will take on Washburn at 7 p.m. on Friday (September 27) and Emporia State at 3 p.m. on Saturday (September 28).
