Crowder College employee to present at statewide convention

The Missouri Community College Association has finalized the agenda of presentations, sessions, speakers, and events that will mark its 49th Annual Convention at the St. Louis Hilton at the Ballpark, Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.

Christina Cullers, Accounts Receivable Manager from Crowder College was selected to present “Boosting Employee Morale.” In today’s busy office setting, keeping employee morale at a high level is often challenging. Her session will discuss morale “downers” and give tips to help boost employee morale within individual departments and offices.

The event will kick off with a keynote presentation by motivational speaker Dr. Bennie Lambert. Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster will speak during a luncheon on Oct. 31 and Missouri Supreme Court Justice Patricia Breckenridge will participate in a panel presentation on the importance of educating students about the justice system.

The convention is the state’s premier professional development event for community college faculty, staff, administrators, and trustees. Other scheduled events include breakout sessions from subject matter experts, meetings of MCCA councils, a trade show, and award ceremonies that honor excellence in community colleges.

MCCA executive director Zora Mulligan noted that this year’s convention program illustrates the fact that Missouri’s community colleges are at the forefront of higher education innovation. “Our state’s community college professionals will be sharing best practices on everything from college-wide completion efforts to boot camps to prepare students for online learning,” Mulligan said. “The convention also provides an excellent opportunity to provide hands-on training for the leaders implementing our MoWINs grant training programs, and to celebrate all of the people and partners that make Missouri’s community colleges great.”

The convention schedule and other event information—including how to register—is available at www.mccatoday.org under “Events.”
