Joplin City Council Hires Investigators


Joplin city council votes to hire an investigator to look into FBI investigation that may have connections to a city council member.

The measure a late addition to last night's budget meeting agenda passed on a vote of nine to zero.

The city council will request FBI-- records linked to Joplin's Mayor Pro Tem Bill Scearce, records Scearce says City Manager Mark Rohr leaked a local newspaper.

Joplin Mayor Melodee Colbert-Keene says "right now we're almost at a head block and I think this is what's going to move us forward and continue the progress we have seen so far with our rebuilding of the city."

Last night's resolution and future action on the case will be discussed at the next city council meeting.
