Suspect in 7th Street Walmart robbery is in custody

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE JOPLIN POLICE DEPARTMENT

On September 27, 2013 at 4:28 PM officers with the Joplin Police Department were dispatched to West 7th Street Wal-Mart, 2623 West 7th, in reference to a robbery that just occurred. An employee confronted a male who was shoplifting and the male displayed a knife and fled on foot with stolen merchandise.

Officers arrived on the scene and established a perimeter around the area based on witness accounts. A Joplin Police K9 was utilized and tracked the subject hiding in thick brush west of the store. The subject was arrested and the items were recovered.

The suspect is identified as David Price, 51, of Miami, Oklahoma. Price is currently being held in the Joplin City Jail. Charges will be sought for First Degree Robbery and Armed Criminal Action from the Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office. A mugshot of the subject will be released when it becomes available.

    The Joplin Fire Department responded to a fire at Triple R Recycling shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 (510 S Tyler Ave). Police closed several roads in the area to allow crews to fight the fire.
