NEO freshmen livestock team exhibits personal success at Ak-Sar-Ben

NEO freshmen livestock team exhibits personal success at Ak-Sar-Ben

Miami, Okla. – Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 – The livestock judging team from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) traveled to Omaha, Neb. on Sept. 28-29 for a weekend of competition at the Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Judging contest, where the freshmen won fourth high team, third in reasons, and had high individual in their division.

The sophomore team had high individual in sheep and goats.

At Ak-Sar-Ben, (Nebraska spelled backward), the contest consisted of 12-placing classes and eight sets of reasons for sophomores and four sets for freshmen.

Freshman team member, Jake Pickering, from Oroville, Calif., was high individual overall and third in reasons for the freshmen division. In addition to Pickering’s achievement, other freshmen members saw success as well.

Brody Cridlebaugh, from Princeton, Mo. was second, and Rachel Calvert, from Rocky Comfort, Mo. was fourth in sheep and goats. Cole Kaufman, from Weyers Cave, Va. was fifth in cattle, and Natalie Hofschulte, from Wyandotte, Okla., was third in hogs. Clay McGuire, of Auburn, Ala. finished fourth in reasons for the freshmen division.

Sophomore, Lea Crump, from Calhoun, Ga., was high individual in the sheep and goats for the sophomore division.

NEO competed against 10 other colleges during the weekend.

The livestock team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. this weekend to compete in their next contest.
