September 23 – October 4 | Spiva Art Gallery at MSSU

This exhibition highlights various works of art by great master artists of the Italian Renaissance, while featuring re-imagination of these works by MSSU art students and faculty inspired by them. MSSU artists and designers have attempted to ‘reinvent’ these great works through the lens of a contemporary artist.

Tools In Motion: Works from the Hechinger Collection

September 21 – November 3 | Spiva Center for the Arts, Main Gallery

A selection of artworks celebrating everyday tools and hardware. This exhibit honors the dignity and intrinsic beauty of their design, promoting each to the status of art. Tools in Motion allows these common utilitarian objects to be transformed into works of beauty, surprise, and wit. All at once everything seems possible!

Small Works 2013

September 21 – October 25 | Spiva Center for the Arts, Regional Gallery

Each year, participating Spiva members create original works of art on a 6"x 6", 9"x12", or 12"by12" Masonite board. The artwork is then exhibited and put up for auction. Silent bidding takes place in person or online, where photographs of the works are posted and bids are tracked. On October 25th there will be a closing party and bidding will end. In its 15th year, the Small Works auction remains Spiva’s most important art- and artist-driven event. All proceeds benefit Spiva Center for the Arts.

Phoenix Fired Art's Featured Artist: Brent Skinner

September 18 – October 16 | Phoenix Fired Art

Phoenix Fired Art's very own Brent Skinner is Featured Artist for this month, which started with an opening show at September's Third Thursday Art Walk (Sept. 19th). Brent produced a new body of work this summer and most was displayed at Spiva Center for the Arts during the last Main Gallery Exhibit (The Essence of Unrelenting Elements - alongside the work of Jorge Leyva). Since then he has added a few pieces and would love for you to come join in celebrating his art.
