Women's Cross Country finishes 8th at Chile Pepper Festival

The MissouriSouthern women's cross country team placed eighth in the college division todayat the 2013 Chile Pepper Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas. 

DoraEastin was the top Lion performer today as she traversed the 5k course in atime of 18:55.6 and placed 57th in the college division. AddieMengwasser was 81st with a time of 19:19.8, while EmilyHarris and SierraGray had times of 19:47.9 and 19:50.1. LizzyKirby finished in a time of 19:59.3, while KaylaBartlesmeyer completed the course in a time of 20:08.1. 

DanaRoberson finished the course in a time of 20:15.4, while JetHovis had a time of 20:24.3. KellyJo Roberts finished in a time of 20:27.6. 

The Lionsfinished with 205 team points, placing eighth in the college division.Augustana won the team title with 59 points, while West Texas A&M wassecond with 73 points. Tarleton State, Dallas Baptist, Iowa Central CC,Harding, New Mexico Highlands, Southern, Northwest Missouri and SouthernArkansas round out the top ten. 

The Lionswill be back in action October 12, traveling to Rolla, Mo. to compete in theJackling Jocks Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T.

    BOSTON (AP) - The Toronto Blue Jays have traded right-hander Liam Hendriks and catcher Erik Kratz to the Kansas City Royals for infielder Danny Valencia.The deal between playoff contenders was announced as the Blue Jays were starting their game in Boston on Monday night.The 29-year-old Valencia hit .282 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 36 games for Kansas City.
