An animal shelter in Joplin is 'Showin The Love to area cats and dogs. The group hosted their 12th Annual Paws in the Park celebration.

Animal lovers and owners were invited to free treats and to view animals at the shelter. Area businesses set up booths and offered attendees samples and goodie bags.

"You know this is a big fundraising event for us but it's also important that we get people into the shelter so they can see how many animals we have and the services we provide a lot of people are surprised to find out how many homeless pets there are and how many wonderful pets there are waiting for homes," said Organizer Lysa Boston.

The director says the shelter is at full capacity - and the event is a way to showcase the animals needing a home.
