Alcohol compliance checks in Carthage

Updated:

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED OCTOBER 8, 2013 BY THE CARTHAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT

On September 27, 2013 the Carthage Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks in the city of Carthage. These checks were conducted to see if businesses were in compliance with the laws restricting alcohol sales to minors. During this operation seventeen businesses that sell alcohol were contacted. It was found that fourteen of the businesses were in compliance with the law. Three businesses were not in compliance and sold alcohol to a minor. The businesses that sold alcohol were:

- Walgreens located at 2737 Grand

- Mazoo Liquor Store (South) located at 2506 Grand

- Snak Atak (West) located at 1224 W. Central

These businesses were cited and given a court date to appear in Carthage Municipal Court.

We would like to thank those businesses that were found to be in compliance with the law.

-TC’s Liquor Store
-The Corner
-Aldi
-Dollar General (South)
-Wal Mart
-Fastrip (South)
-Fastrip (North)
-Casey's (South)
- Casey's (North)

The Carthage Police Department firmly believes in the importance of keeping alcohol out of the hands of minors. Underage drinking is a serious issue and we are committed to enforcing the laws in place to prevent minors from accessing alcohol.
