NEWS RELEASE ISSUED OCTOBER 9, 2013 BY U.S. REPRESENTATIVE BILLY LONG (MO.)

Long Honors Sacrifices of Fallen Soldiers, Supports Military Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Billy Long voted in favor of the Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act, ensuring our nation’s military families are not forgotten in their time of need.

“Our nation is blessed with men and women who put their lives on the line to defend our freedom and some make the ultimate sacrifice. Our nation’s military families mourning a fallen hero need to know our nation supports them in their time of need and the service of their loved ones is not forgotten. I am hopeful this legislation moves quickly through the Senate and to the president’s desk for his signature,” Long said.

Long is an original co-sponsor of the Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act. This legislation ensures the death benefits for military families are not delayed due to the government shutdown. Long is also an original co-sponsor of the Fallen Heroes and Families Assistance Act, which also ensures death benefits for military families are not delayed because of the government shutdown.
