NEWS RELEASE ISSUED OCTOBER 9, 2013 BY THE OFFICE OF CONGRESSWOMAN LYNN JENKINS
Congresswoman Jenkins: We Need Real Solutions to End Government Shutdown, Not Washington Rhetoric
WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement as the House continues to work on passing critical, bipartisan funding bills to reopen parts of the government on the ninth day of the federal government shutdown.
“I have been very disappointed with Washington’s rhetoric, including the talk of “putting guns to people heads,” and “holding hostages.” This extreme language is inappropriate and moves us no closer to solving any of our country’s problems. There is enough blame to go around for why we are in this fiscal mess today, and we need both parties to work together to change course. The American people expect more from their leaders, and it is time to stop with the political games and start discussing real, sustainable solutions. We must put the American people ahead of politics and discuss how we can resolve our differences in order to move forward.”
Please Note: Congresswoman Jenkins was invited to join a group of negotiators to represent the House Republican Conference at a gathering at the White House tomorrow.
