Gov. Nixon makes appointments to Missouri State University Board of Governors

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today announced the appointments of Virginia L. Fry (R), of Springfield, and James Kendall Seal (D), of Kansas City, to the Missouri State University Board of Governors. The Missouri State University Board of Governors possesses full power and authority to adopt all needful rules and regulations for the guidance and supervision of the University. The appointees will be subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate.

Fry is a partner at Husch Blackwell and is a member of the firm’s Healthcare, Life Sciences & Pharmaceuticals industry team. She is an experienced litigator in federal and state courts and also represents school districts and higher education institutions. The Governor has appointed her for a term ending January 1, 2019.

Seal is a supervising attorney and director of medical-legal partnerships at Legal Aid of Western Missouri. In his legal practice, he advocates on behalf of adult and child victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking. He is also a case manager for the Human Trafficking Rescue Project and is the regional attorney referral source for Polaris Project. The Governor has appointed him for a term ending January 1, 2019.
