Pitt State Cross Country Teams Complete Final Tune-up at FHSU

Casey Epps led five Pitt State women's cross country runners top 20 individual finishes as the Gorillas finished second among 17 schools at the Fort Hays State Open Saturday (Oct. 12). The Pitt State men placed eighth among 19 teams.

The Gorilla women posted a 59-point team score to finish just behind Adams State, which won the meet with a low 54-point total.

Epps crossed the finish line in 17 minutes, 56.25 seconds in the five-kilometer race, finishing fourth overall. Hannah DeVries came across the line in eighth place in 18:12.84, while Alex Moase was 12th (18:23.04), Paige White finished 16th in 18:33.14 and Carlin Greene placed 19th (18:40.21).

The Pitt State men finished the meet with 242 points. Adams State won the meet with a low 33 points, while Nebraska-Kearney finished a distant second with 76 points.

Austin Bogina paced the Gorillas in the eight-kilometer race with a 25th place finish in 25:18.0. Chris Wise also finished 33rd overall in 25:32.50.

The Gorillas will now return to Pittsburg to host the 2013 MIAA Championships on Oct. 26.
