Outdoor Kansas Kid's Day - KOAM TV 7

Outdoor Kansas Kid's Day

Updated:

Families in Pittsburg met for a day of fun at Lakeside Park.  The event was put together by the city's parks and recreation department.

Locals were invited to fish, canoe, and compete in tug-o-war.

The entire event was free, and lunch was provided.  Organizers say they hope participants walk away looking to come back next year.

"With just the idea that they can bring their kids outside to do different fun activities, and that they do that during the remainder of the year while the weather stays nice.  They do that, and next year, come back and are excited about the event," says Pittsburg Parks and Rec worker Kim Vogel.

The event is in its 12th year.  Each child walked away from today's event with a new shirt.
