MSSU to Announce Plans for Baseball Facilities

MSSU to Announce Plans for Baseball Facilities

JOPLIN, MO (SNS) - A special announcement about future baseball facilities at Missouri Southern State University will be made this Thursday, Oct. 17 at a press conference in the second floor lobby of Hearnes Hall.

The event will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the area outside of the Presidential Office suite.

Speakers will include Head Baseball Coach Bryce Darnell, Lion baseball alumnus Matt Nelson, Athletics Director Jared Bruggeman, and Interim President Alan Marble.

Details about the university's fundraising progress for a new baseball stadium, as well as announcements of several major partners, will be made known at the event.

Students, faculty, staff, community members, and media are all invited to attend.

    The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) says K-7 between U.S. 160 and K-102 in Cherokee County is once again open to traffic. The seven mile section of K-7 has been closed for reconstruction since the spring of 2017. The highway opening marks the completion of the 11-mile reconstruction of K-7 from U.S. 160 north to U.S. 400. Reconstruction of the northern four miles was completed in late 2016.     Two southeast Kansas residents pleaded guilty yesterday (Sept. 24) to second degree murder and other charges for a cap on sentencing. They both also agreed to testify against a third suspect. According to court documents, robbery and shooting happened on January 29th, 2017 at 2334 E. Zora St. in Joplin, Missouri.
