Mercy Named Top Hospital by National Research Group

JOPLIN, Mo. (Oct. 21, 2013) Official Release from Mercy:

Mercy Hospital Joplin has just been named one of the top hospitals in the nation by the National Research Corporation – one of the nation's leading consumer health care study groups.

"This is a great indicator that we are meeting the needs of our community here in Joplin and that is the best news of all," said Gary Pulsipher, president of Mercy Hospital Joplin. "We will continue to meet the needs, opening our new hospital and clinics in 2015."

The National Research Market Insights study surveyed more than 270,000 households nationwide. Joplin consumers were surveyed as to which local hospital they liked best, specifically asking about overall quality, image and reputation, and quality of doctors and nurses.

Among 276 other hospitals nationwide listed as a 2013/2014 Consumer Choice winner, Mercy Hospital Joplin is recognized for having the Best Overall Quality, Best Image/Reputation, Best Doctors, and Best Nurses in the U.S. Mercy shares this Consumer Choice recognition with Freeman Health System, also in Joplin.

"We are thrilled to offer this annual award because we understand how important the role of reputation plays in health care consumer decision-making," said Susan L. Henricks, National Research president and chief operating officer. "These winners have done an outstanding job of representing their organizations in terms of high quality care, improvement initiatives, and positive consumer perceptions and experiences. The consumers have spoken. And we congratulate the winning hospitals in receiving this honor."

Mercy Hospital Fort Smith, in Arkansas, and Mercy Hospital Springfield, in Missouri, were also recognized as a Consumer Choice winner.
