Joplin High School Key Club sells YUDA Bands to put three children through school for a year in a Third World Country

Updated:

NEWS RELEASE ISSUED OCTOBER 28, 2013 BY THE JOPLIN HIGH SCHOOL KEY CLUB

Joplin High School Key Club sells YUDA Bands to put three children through school for a year in a Third World Country.

JOPLIN, Mo. - The Joplin High School Key Club will be selling YUDA bands to help support three students, in third world countries from October 28th to November 2nd.

YUDA Bands projects empower youth to make a difference. Student leaders work hand in hand with their school’s specifically assigned project manager to teach the importance of service. When a school hosts a YUDA Bands project, the whole student body and community gets involved. They learn about education, and how they should be grateful to have one. They learn that education is power and that it changes lives. Then they’re given the opportunity to make a difference in a completely realistic way—by buying a YUDA Band for $7 so they can “wear a band and change a life"

YUDA Bands projects should not end when sales are completed at a school. If the project is done right the spirit of YUDA Bands remains long after the bands are all sold. The YUDA Band on student’s wrists act as a silent reminder of the service they gave. The project will create a movement we call the YUDA Bands Revolution. When students look at their YUDA Band they not only are reminded of their education and other blessings, but are more inclined to serve others.

The community will have the opportunity to buy the bands as well, details will be released at a later date.

For more information about the program contact the assistant project leader, Rylee Hartwell, 417-825-3258.

Although these students are too young to vote, they're plenty old enough to care about issues our country is facing today. "Ever since Parkland happened, the shooting at Park Land. I've always had this mentality, like it can happen here" Erie High School sophomore, Matthew Inman attended the Pittsburg March For Our Lives rally, and one of the leaders encouraged people from all congressional districts to hold town hall meetings, the spirit of activism was contagious.
