Marquee sign from the Colonial Fox Theater moves to temporary home

The marquee sign from the Colonial Fox Theater has a new home, for now.

The sign was being repaired in a hangar at the Pittsburg Regional Airport but two weeks ago the theater was told the hangar would no longer be available.

Larry Seward with CDL Electric offered to store the marquee at the McNally Building in town.  That's where it will stay until it's ready to go back up on the theater.

"There's nothing cooler than a piece of history inside of a piece of history - I mean the McNally Building - I can't think of a better place to have the marquee," says Sarah Jensen of the Colonial Fox Theater.

"Basically, we'll be reskinning the entire sign, putting new sockets, it's going to take all new electrical components," says Brett Wheeler, manager of Sign Division Production.  "It's a very tedious process to restore a sign this old and this big."

The next step in renovation the Colonial Fox Theater is to install heating and air conditioning systems.
