Badges & Burgers fundraiser for United Way held in Webb City

Updated:

Some Webb City, Missouri firefighters were hard at work on Thursday, but they weren't putting out any fires.  They were actually starting some... on the grill.

Firefighters volunteered their time cooking up burgers for some hungry residents.  This is the fifth year the department has participated in the Badges and Burgers fundraiser.

"It's taken on a life of its own," says Carl Francis, the City Administrator of Webb City.  "The employees are really starting to enjoy it and it's so well organized.  They've sold well over 300 hamburgers today.  It's a well oiled machine.  They're working well."

"This year has been really great," says Webb City Fire Chief Andrew Roughton.  "We had a lot of businesses helping with the raffle items and the community has been great.  No complaints there whatsoever."

All proceeds from the day's events will go to the United Way.
